For the first time, the park at the heart of the District’s historic LGBTQ neighborhood will be closed to the public for all of Pride weekend as the nation’s capital continues to host one of the largest Pride Month observances in the world.

City authorities canceled an initial request to block off the site, an L.G.B.T.Q. gathering spot in Washington, D.C. But the National Park Service opted to close it.
