Notre Dame opened the season with a 23-13 victory over Texas A&M in College State, Texas, before falling in its home opener to Mid-American Conference school Northern Illinois, 16-14, in a stunner for the Irish. The Irish bounced back with a 66-7 victory at Purdue and then dispatched Miami (Ohio), 28-3, last weekend at home.

Louisville football, in its first season under Jeff Brohm, is in the Associated Press poll and coaches poll for the first time since September 2020.

Notre Dame football picked up a huge win over Louisville on Saturday, beating the Cardinals 31-24 and moving to 4-1 on the season. It had large spells of offensive struggles for Notre Dame but was a game that saw Notre Dame lead for 49:59 of the 60-minute contest.
