Bentley has revealed details of its first all-electric model, a Luxury Urban SUV, set to be built in the UK at the heavily remodelled Bentley plant in Crewe.

Bentley is once again reshuffling its electrification plans, but still expects to have an all-electric lineup by 2035, the automaker announced Thursday.

Bentley has revealed that its first fully electric vehicle (EV) will be revealed to the world in 2026, creating what it calls an “entirely new segment”. Billed as the world’s first “true Luxury Urban SUV” the new vehicle will also inaugurate the British marque’s extended “Beyond100+” business strategy,

However, the automaker now plans to launch just the one EV, confirmed by Walliser on Thursday as an SUV, and will add more depending on how the market turns. Walliser said Bentley is open to launching a new EV or plug-in hybrid every year after the first EV, and currently targets a switch to a fully electric lineup by 2035.

As you might expect, Bentley was equally keen to stress that it now ‘predicts’ a new PHEV or BEV model launching every year until 2035 - but on the basis that its wholesale electrification in that timescale has now slipped to an ‘ambition’ rather than a cast-iron guarantee just goes to show how tricky such predictions have become.
