"We came here for a Bears game and brunch. The food and atmosphere did not disappoint. To my surprise they had plenty of games on and the brunch menu was to die for. I got the pulled pork eggs Benedict. It was to die for. The server was very nice as well. He continued checking on us and refilled our champagne flutes. We will be back for brunch"

"I had a very positive first visit to this shop recently. The shop is set up more as a supply store and we were told that there aren't many animals kept on site. I went in to see what kind of tarantulas they had available. I was told that all the animals they have are listed on the website as most of them are not on site. The owner was very kind to us, helping us to look at the options online. She also brought out a few of the juvenile tarantulas she had in store for us to look at. She also showed us some death beetles and Cuban fake chameleons. There were some bearded dragons on display as well. You can tell that the owner cares very deeply for the animals that she plays guardian to. I ended up coming back later that same day to get the Grammostola Rosea tarantula because I could not stop thinking about her :) I'm already in love with this little one!\n\nThis is a great shop for serious reptile & arachnid keepers. it is small but well stocked with feeders & husbandry supplies. If you are looking to browse for entertainment it's not set up for this. I would recommend looking at the website and calling ahead to request to see any animals you are interested in buying. The way they are kept is for the benefit of the animals care and to reduce stress. It may seem unconventional to some but I appreciate the way this place is set up with the best of intentions. Highly recommended!"

In English, many past and present participles of verbs can be used as adjectives. Some of these examples may show the adjective use. Raising, or at least maintaining, one's rank in the hierarchy is a perpetual battle, and turnover within the population is constant.
Raising is usually a transitive verb, meaning it typically requires an object and implies that someone or something is actively lifting or elevating something else. Conversely, rising is mostly intransitive and describes a self-initiated increase or movement upward without direct external influence.
Nonetheless, people have been raising children in English since the 1700s, and the usage has been standard for many generations, at least in American English. The Usage Panelists find the use of raise acceptable both for children and for livestock.
