WEBDec 30, 2018 — IMO, an inexpensive microscope is just fine for what we're doing. All you need is a 4x, 10x, and 40x objectives. I wouldn't go any higher than 100x. When you add the 10x eye piece... these now translate into 4x = 40x, 10x = 100x, 40x = 400x, and 100x = 1000x. I rarely find myself going beyond 400x magnification.

WEBMar 25, 2023 — Yes, dose one time and let the phyto grow. I don't dose anything else. I've had cultures that got contaminated stay yellowish instead of turning deep green. Washing my hands and using a spray bottle with isopropyl alcohol to disinfect my funnel, surfaces, etc., helped. Last edited: Mar 2, 2024.
