WEBOct 16, 2013 · Oh I didn't know that KK and Waldbaums are going out of business in Suffolk. I do remember there used to be a KK in Smithtown on 347 that got turned into an Italian supermarket I think. In Western Nassau I noticed some of the Pathmarks went out of business. I'm happy Fairway continues to expand, it'll be nice to have one in Lake Grove.

Part of that is because I grew up in Plainview and know how good the quality and prices of Greenfield's ShopRites and Fairway really are. (In fact I worked at the Greenfields Shoprite on Old country road way back in high school when it still was a foodtown).

At least 30% of the staff isn't fluent in English. And their markups on ordinary packaged products are disgraceful.
